The Hope Scholarship Fund is a non-profit foundation to give children the opportunity to get an education. It was funded by a current student at the University of Pennsylvania in the 8th grade!
A lot of kids that we are funding come from extremely impoverished families, their parents cannot find jobs in their home regions and have to move thousands to miles away in order to provide for their families. These kids then have to live with relatives for long periods of time and rarely see their parents. The families are so impoverished that they have choose between going to school or being able to afford basic necessities such as food and water. As a result most of these kids cannot even go to elementary school or middle school.
